the story behind
the party
Do you remember your first roller skates? Those cool rollers that let you glide down the road, blazing in the sun? How much fun was that?!
I certainly do, because when I turned 8, my mom organized a roller skating party for me. Dancing with friends on roller skates and having fun on hits of the 90's. It was the most joyful birthday party of my childhood.
I was a vivid child who liked to dance, roller skate and express herself. When I was 12 my father unexpectedly passed away due to a heart attack. I was devastated and felt very lonely in the grieving process.
A few years later I was diagnosed with a tumor in my jaw cavity. It was a long road with over more than 10 surgeries and in 2001 I had a cardiac arrest myself while under anesthesia.
These experiences had a big impact on me. I lost connection with the joyful Kristel I was, full of zest for life. I took me a lot of healing work to reconnect with that little girl and to feel what she really needed to shine & experience joy again.
Today I am happy to say that she is more alive than ever before and her biggest wish for now is to share all that joy.
Rollerjoy.be is about life in all it's colors. It's about believing in the future despite the difficult moments of the past. It's about pursuing dreams, celebrating life & sharing joy. Because it's never too late to dance & roll.

About believing in the future despite difficult moments of the past, pursuing your dreams, celebrating life & sharing the joy. Because it's never too late to dance & roll.
I want to thank everyone who celebrated this special moment with me - 32 years later, on my 40th birthday at the same place as back then - and this way gave new life to the memory of the most joyful birthday party of my childhood.
